Pantone Color of the Year 2017

Pantone Color of the Year 2017

The Pantone Color Institute’s color of the year reveal is always highly anticipated. The choice sets a tone and influences year long trends in fashion, beauty, interior design, food, travel… the list goes on and on. Over the past few years, Pantone has introduced us to sweet blush pinks, deep red wines, and radiant purples to easily incorporate into our everyday lives. This year’s choice may come as a surprise, as vivacious and refreshing Greenery replaces 2016’s Rose Quartz and Serenity duo. Greenery is a fresh and vibrant yellow-green shade that aims not only to make a fashion statement, but a political one. Pantone Color Institute's Executive Director Leatrice Eiseman explains,

“Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the reassurance we yearn for amid a tumultuous social and political environment. Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate and revitalize, Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose.”

Coming from a girl whose wardrobe consists of black, grey, and then more black, I find Pantone’s color choice for 2017 fresh and inspiring. Greenery urges us all to take a deep breath, keep an open mind, and welcome new beginnings. To those who may be hesitant to fill their closets with the daring green shade, check out my subtle yet chic greenery picks below!
