Welcome to the Official Marist Fashion Blog!!!
We have created something the Silver Needle Runway has never seen before; a behind the scenes look into the hard work of the Marist Fashion Program in the months leading up to this highly anticipated event. The posts to follow will be centered around the production of Marist’s annual Silver Needle Runway & Awards, including all that takes place in the Fashion Show Production class. From interviews with senior designers to model casting and styling, we are giving you an exclusive inside look into all things Marist Fashion.
The Silver Needle Runway & Awards, the largest scale production held by Marist College, originated in 1984 and has since increased tremendously in level of expertise, professionalism and creativity. The show features more than 200 garments designed and brought to life by students ranging from sophomore to senior grade level, mainly focusing on the collections composed by our immensely talented senior designers. Yearly, between the matinee and evening runway show, the Silver Needle Runway & Awards is attended by over 2,000 guests. Attendees range from family, friends, and students to highly respected fashion industry professionals. The awards of the Silver Needle Runway Show are presented to deserving Senior designers for outstanding design collection, outstanding garment, outstanding concept, and so on. The award recipients are judged and chosen by a panel of industry professionals. The Silver Needle Runway & Awards flawlessly embodies the heart and essence of the Marist College fashion program. The show ends the school year with an inspiring celebration of the achievements, dedication, and enthusiasm of the fashion design and merchandising students.
Though the Silver Needle Runway & Awards Show is not until May, the planning for the show begins months in advance by a select group of students enrolled in Marist’s Fashion Show Production class. These dedicated students take on the responsibility of making the show even more innovative, creative and unique than the year before. The class is divided into three teams; production, creative, and communications, who all work together to achieve this common goal. From selecting a venue to casting models, and designing invitations to curating the perfect soundtrack, Marist fashion students take on immense responsibilities. Amidst the flowing gowns and flashing lights, perhaps the most unique facet of the show is found in its entirely student-run production. With this said, the Annual Silver Needle Runway & Awards would not have found such continuous success without the help and support of the dedicated Marist Fashion Faculty.
We hope that in these few months leading up to the Silver Needle Runway & Awards that this blog can give you all a deeper look into the Marist Fashion program, and what it really takes to produce this incredible show. Stayed tuned and check back weekly for an exclusive inside journey of Marist Fashion Show Production. We hope you are as excited as we are!!!
